Mohit Sharma made a name for
himself during the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy season with Haryana. A right-hand
medium-fast bowler, Mohit is more sound than spectacular, and has the
McGrathesque ability to bowl six out of six deliveries on a good length at
off-stump with a smooth, uncomplicated action.
Mohit was picked by Chennai
Super Kings; he thrived in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 and under the
guidance of MS Dhoni, and was often given the new ball and the death-overs by
his captain. And he delivered.
His good shows in domestic
cricket and the IPL helped him get an India call-up for an ODI series against
Zimbabwe in August 2013. He won the Man of the Match award on debut with
figures of two for 26 from ten overs. He played against West Indies at home and
at South Africa in their den, and in the World Twenty20 2014.
